When it comes to makeup, everyone has a unique personality. Some people like to be trendy all the time, while others prefer to stick to what they like.
The same is true for makeup brushes. Some people enjoy having dozens of makeup brushes for each type of makeup. And some only have a small number that they use. Some people prefer to own only a few makeup brushes and apply liquid makeup by hand. If you want to learn more about makeup, regardless of who you are, you should use the different types of makeup brushes mentioned in this post.
We had no idea there were so many different types of makeup brushes when we decided to write about them. We just guessed about ten based on our previous experience, and we were immediately proven wrong. However, we are not going to list every single type of makeup brush in this post. We’ll just focus on the most important ones, in our opinion. So, without further ado, here are some of the most important types of makeup brushes you should own.
Types of makeup brushes and their uses:
Blending Sponge
This is the most fundamental type of makeup brush (or sponge, in this case). Every makeup artist knows that blending sponges are far superior to other makeup brushes for applying liquid makeup bases. This is what you need if you’re a beginner and have trouble making sure your liquid makeup doesn’t leave a weird texture behind. To achieve the perfect look, use a blending sponge with makeup such as foundation, concealer, and others.
Bronzer Brush
These brushes are also known as blush brushes and powder brushes. You’ve probably guessed what these do based on the name. These makeup brushes are ideal for applying all of your powder makeup without smearing it all over your face. No other brush can be used to apply blush because no one wants their cheeks to look like they’re in an Annabelle movie (maybe some do).
Foundation Brush
The foundation brush is not the most important makeup brush. Unless, of course, you prefer powder or mineral foundation to liquid foundation. You can easily apply liquid foundation to your face with a blending sponge or your hands. However, if you’re using powder foundation, you’ll need a foundation brush to ensure that it lines up perfectly on your face. Starting with your T-Zone, apply your mineral or powder foundation with this makeup brush. Then, gently swirl the brush over your skin to allow the product to penetrate. It may be difficult to adjust to at first, but with time and practice, you will come to enjoy it.
Pencil Brush
If you are primarily interested in eye makeup, you will require a pencil brush. This makeup brush is useful for applying all types of eye makeup. With this makeup brush, you can easily create a smokey eye makeup look. You can use this more than any other eye makeup brush to achieve a blended and hazy look.
Eyeliner Brush
There are numerous types of eyeliner brushes. Some are angular in shape, while others may be round. But, whichever one you choose, these are absolutely essential. Eyeliner brushes are primarily intended for those who enjoy experimenting with various eyeliner tutorials and trends. Most liquid eyeliners come with their sticks, but some makeup enthusiasts prefer to use their own makeup brush. If you are one of them or would like to be one, explore the market and stick to what you enjoy.
Fan Brush
The fan brush is shaped like a fan. This makeup brush is primarily used for applying highlighters or adjusting and removing any makeup mistakes you may have made. This makeup brush can also be used to blend dark blushes or eyeshadow mistakes. It is best to have a few fan brushes on hand because we all end up making mistakes when it comes to makeup. And, if you’re in a similar situation and in a hurry, a fan brush can prove to be very helpful.
Lip Brush
Lip brushes are ideal for anyone who has thin lips and cannot rely solely on lipstick. When you’re out and about, you can easily touch up your lips with this makeup brush. Simply line your lips with a lip liner and gently brush it to the inside of your lips. These brushes are also ideal for achieving multi-coloured lips. With the help of this lip brush, you can blend all of the colours you want to apply to your lips.
