Dia Mirza states that she didnât get married to Vaibhav Rekhi just because of the pregnancy

Amidst the pandemic and tension rising in the city about the new lockdown rules, what really cheered us up this week was the news of Dia Mirza’s pregnancy. The pretty actress announced her pregnancy on social media and the internet flooded the new-mommy-to-be with love and good wishes.

The actress just recently got married to Vaibhav Rekhi and looking at her baby bump in the pictures, some netizens raised the question that did she get married because of the pregnancy? One of the netizens even dropped a comment saying that while she is a fan of Dia and always been proud that the diva is a true feminist, why couldn’t she announce her pregnancy before marriage and by announcing it right now, the actress has just further cemented the stereotype of women need to get married to get pregnant.

Answering all the questions through this one single comment, Dia Mirza cleared all the air and said it the way it is. She said that she didn’t marry Vaibhav Rekhi because she was pregnant, but rather they tied the knot because they wanted to be together forever and the reason she hid her pregnancy news was because of medical reasons, “Interesting question. Firstly, we didn’t marry because we were having a baby together. We were already marrying as we wanted to spend our lives together. We discovered we were going to have a baby while we were planning our wedding. So this marriage is not the result of pregnancy. We didn’t announce the pregnancy until we knew it was safe (medical reasons). This is the happiest news of my life. I’ve waited for many many years for this to happen. No way I would hide it for any reason other than medical.”

She further even added points of explaining why speaking up right now and keeping her stance out there was important, “Only answering this because: 1) Having a child is a beautiful gift of life 2) There must never be any shame attached to this beautiful journey 3) As women we must always exercise our choice 4) Whether we choose to be single and parent a child or be in a marriage it is after all our choice 5) As a society we must un stereotype our idea of what is right or wrong, instead of training ourselves to ask what is fair or unfair.” Well said!
