Haemoglobin is responsible for circulating oxygen in the body. Low levels of haemoglobin can be a sign of an underlying health condition such as anaemia. Heamoglobin is an iron-rich protein found in red blood cells. When a person does not have enough red blood cells, then the lack of oxygen in the body can prove to be harmful.
In India, low levels of haemoglobin are very common among people. Clinically, the normal level of haemoglobin in the body in men is 14g/dl to 18 g/dl, and in women, the normal level is 12g/dl to 16 g/dl. Less haemoglobin in the body than in the normal range can build up anaemia in the body.
