Invest in the right workout gear!
Is the cold water stopping you from going outdoors and running? Don t let the fear keep you from sweating it out in the cold. We got you a few tips that will make running in the cold less painful.
1. Buy some winter running gear: Invest in appropriate running gear for the weather. It will make going out in winter so much tolerable. Invest in good gloves, jackets, socks and cap. You will also need a sports bra, a tank top, a long sleeved base layer with pockets and a jacket.
2. Wear the right layers: Wearing the right layers can make you feel comfortable on a cold day. You may just want to wear a long coat but wearing thick clothes can cause your body to overheat and sweat. A good thumb rule can be to wear just enough so that you feel a little chilly when you start and feel perfect within 10 minutes when you are a little warmed up.
4. Invest in a pair of waterproof sneakers: If you are running on the slippery surface with your sandals or shoes that skid, you are definitely risking a fall. Invest in a pair of waterproof sneakers with metal studs or spikes. They will not only provide a great grip but also give you confidence while you are running. What s more, since the outer layer is waterproof your feet will stay dry and warm.
5. Run on trails: Cold temperatures can make the surfaces harder and that can hurt your knees. So instead of running on pavements run on snow-covered trails. Snow will provide you with a softer surface similar to sand that will not hurt your knees. If there is no snow in your city, use trails to run instead of the road.
