6 Simple Steps To Prepare South Special Onion Vadagam At Home

Onion Vadagam is a popular South Indian condiment. This is made from a few ingredients, including onions, urad dal and spices. The mixture is sun-dried to create a crispy and savoury texture. It is often served as a side dish or used as a topping for various Indian dishes. Whether you are making sambar or curry, this will add aroma and taste to the dishes. You can also store the mixture for more than one year. If you also want to add flavour to your dishes, then here is a recipe to make Onion Vadagam at home.

Ingredients required:

Onion – 1.5 cup

Garlic cloves – 1/2 cup

Curry leaves

Urad Dal – 1/4 cup (soak for 30 minutes)

Mustard – 1 tablespoon

Cumin – 1 tablespoon

Fenugreek – 1/2 tablespoon

Red Chilli Powder – 1 tablespoon

Turmeric – 1 tablespoon

Salt – as required

Castor oil – 2 tablespoons

Cooking oil – for frying

Recipe:

Step 1: Peel the onion, wash and dry it completely. Then finely chop onion, garlic and curry leaves and mix all three together.

Step 2: Add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, salt and red chilli powder and mix well with your hands.

Step 3: Next, grind the soaked urad dal in a mixer.
