7 Eatables That Can Cause Food Poisoning If Not Washed Properly

There are many foods that, when not washed or cooked properly, can lead to severe ailments, including food poisoning. Also, certain food items should never be left at room temperature and be stored properly to avoid any health issues. Here are a few daily food items if not stored or washed properly can lead to problems.

Green Leafy Vegetables

Spinach, mint, coriander leaves, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and other such green leafy veggies need to be washed properly under running water. This is to get rid of dirt, insects or worms. One can also find bacteria like E. coli and Salmonella in these vegetables. Hence, make sure to never eat Spinach, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage and other veggies without properly washing and cooking it first. Avoid putting them raw in your food.

Rice

Rice is one of the staple diets of Southeast Asian countries. It is also one of the most consumed grains in the world. However, did you know that not storing cooked rice properly can lead to bacterial growth? If cooked rice is left at room temperature for a long time, bacteria will grow in it rapidly because of the moisture and make us sick. It may also lead to food poisoning. It is best to store rice in the refrigerator after eating.

Milk

If you drink raw milk, without boiling it, it can affect your health negatively. Hence, always make sure to drink it only after boiling it. After you boil the milk, you can chill it in the fridge and drink it cool.
