There is one dish that is sweet, spicy, crunchy and delicious and is quite a famous Indo-Chinese preparation. We are talking about honey chilli potatoes. Foodies across the world love this preparation, as it has a balanced yet delicious combination of sweet and spicy notes that makes it a lip-smacking dish. Honey chilli potatoes are the perfect snack or an appetiser that can be eaten anytime. Its perfect texture and flavour will be devoured by your guests in no time. So, here is a quick and simple recipe for you.
For this, you will need ingredients like 500 grams of potatoes, three to four tablespoons of cornflour, one or two tablespoons maida, salt as per your taste, oil for frying, finely chopped garlic and chillies, chopped onions and capsicum, tomato sauce, chilli sauce, soy sauce, honey, vinegar and water.
Recipe:
Firstly, wash and peel the potatoes. Then cut them into wedges. Let them soak in cold water for 15 minutes to get rid of the extra starch. Strain the potatoes and then pat them dry using a tissue or a kitchen towel.
Take a small bowl and combine cornflour, maida and salt. Then gradually add water to make a smooth batter.
Take a non-stick pan and heat the oil in it to fry the potatoes. When the oil heats, dip the potato wedges in the batter and then fry them in the hot oil until they turn crispy and golden brown.
In a separate non-stick pan, heat two tablespoons of oil. When the oil heats up, add 4-5 chopped garlic cloves, 1-2 green chillies and 1 medium-sized chopped onion. Saute them until the onion turns translucent. Now, add 1 chopped capsicum and saute for a minute.
Now add 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce, 1 tablespoon of chilli sauce, vinegar and soy sauce respectively, 2 tablespoons of honey and half a cup of water. Stir everything to mix the sauce properly and let it cook for 2-3 minutes. Then add the fried potatoes to the mix and mix them well to ensure proper coating of the sauce.
Now, take it off the flame and garnish with some spring onions and roasted sesame seeds.
