Kankaria Lake

Many come for picnic here and at least some of them feel happy at the recollection that once Emperor Jahangir and his queen Nur Jahan spent many an evening here. The lake, created in 1451, by Sultan Qutab-ud-Din, is a polygon with 34 sides. There is an island in the middle. Kankaria Lake is one of the largest lakes in Ahmedabad. It is one of the main entertainment centers for the locals who like to go there to enjoy the attractions arranged on its banks. These include parks, an aquarium, a zoo, a natural science museum and a nautical club. In the center of the lake, a peninsula is made up of a garden and a summer palace of the Sultans named Nagina Wadi, which served as a base for bathing in the waters of the lake. If you are looking for activities for children, visit the zoo. The latter was built in 1951 and has 450 different mammals, more than 2,000 birds and 140 reptiles can be a good choice. One can see rare species such as Bengal tigers, anacondas and elephants. Kankaria Lake is famous for leisure, nature and kids activities.
