A marriage or a relationship is very fragile, where both the partners have to put in their best effort to make it work. If they fail to do so, it can become a cause for strains in a relationship, and that would not be good for your overall well-being. One needs to recognise whether their relationship is good for their self-esteem and mental well-being. It is better to come out of a bad relationship that is ruining your mental peace. Here are some signs, which could indicate that you are in a bad relationship.
Disrespecting your spouse:
To be treated with disrespect and humiliation should not to be accepted in a relationship, under any circumstances. In the disguise of joking or making fun, disrespect should not be tolerated.
Keeping your relationship a secret:
When your spouse or partner intends to keep your relationship a secret for any reason, that is a major sign of a problematic relationship. Not revealing their relationship status, and posing as a single person on social media may be an indication of something serious.
Physical or sexual harassment:
Harassment in any form in a relationship is a sign that it is better to leave it. Physical harassment or domestic violence is unacceptable, it only leads to the worst of situations. Same goes for sexual violence, a partner or spouse should be aware of the other’s boundaries, and that no means no.
Imposing restrictions and dominating the other:
A relationship is all about growing together, facing problems together, and respecting each other’s choices and opinions. If a spouse is trying to control or dominate the other, then it is a sign of a bad relationship.
Choosing to spend time with others instead of your partner:
If you prefer to be with others, instead of your partner most of the time, then it means you are simply wasting each other’s time. It is better to go separate ways, than to stay in such an arrangement.
