Craft Butter Board Like An Artist; Create Stunning Swirls

Everyone loves aesthetically pleasing parties in the realm of internet and social media. The obsession to post photos on Instagram and other relevant platforms has become common.

And if you love hosting parties, you must be feeling the weight on your shoulder.

Besides the scenic tablescapes you have in mind for the upcoming weekend, we’ve got you one Tik Tok viral recipe similar to how one creates elegant charcuterie boards to elevate your house party.

What Is a Butter Board?

A butter board is a room temperature butter spread across a serving board and overspread with herbs and spices, spreads or drizzles. It is served with crackers or bread that can be swirled or swiped through the butter to get the burst of flavours. And if you love trying something out of the box, you might love pairing up with bagels or waffles.

It is a very simple method that anyone can recreate with little improvisation of add-on to their taste.

Ingredients

1 stick softened unsalted butter1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt1/2 freshly ground black pepperZest of 1/2 citrus (lemon, orange or lime)1/4 cup microgreens or edible flowers1 tablespoon honeyChopped nuts or seeds

Method

Step 1: Using a knife or spreader start smearing the 1/2 inch softened butter onto a clean, dry board. Gently do a back and forth motion and make swirls of butter like an artist to appear eye catchy.

Step 2: Ignite the Salt Bae in you and evenly sprinkle flaky sea salt followed by lemon zest onto the surface of the butter.

Step 3: Colours in food make it more appetising so garnish with microgreens.

Step 4: Drizzle spreads over all the toppings such as honey.

Step 5: Serve your butter board creation with bread and crackers.

History

Butter board was originally created by Portland chef and cookbook author Joshua McFaddens. However, the obsession with butter boards began on Tik Tok after a video of Brooklyn-based content creator Justine Doiron went viral.
