Foetal Position To Arm Under The Pillow, 5 Ways You Should Never Sleep

Often when you hit the bed, you lie down in your favourite position. But have you ever wondered if that particular sleeping position is good for you? All bad sleeping position can lead to a whole bunch of problems which includes ruining the quality of your sleep and affecting your overall health.

Apart from this, it can give you a stiff neck or a sore back or cause pain and needle sensations. Hence, to avoid chronic problems avoid sleeping in these positions to prevent sleep disorders like sleep apnoea.

Sleeping on your stomach

Sleeping on your stomach requires you to turn your head to the side which can cross your neck and spine. This can restrict your breathing and further affect your lower back. You can try to sleep with a thin pillow or without one at all to reduce your next train. You can also place a cushion under your pelvis to alleviate your lower back pain.

Foetal position

Sleeping in the foetal position which is sleeping on your side with your knees close to your stomach or curling up, can restrict your breathing and also strain your joints. You might notice aches or pains upon waking up. If you have slept in the foetal position and you want to reduce training it’s best to stretch out your body slightly. Place a soft cushion or a pillow between your knees to make sure your spine is aligned and reduce strain.

Arm under the pillow position

This is one of the most common sleeping positions and is considered to be one of the worst. Sleeping with your arms and the pillow can compress the nerves in your arm, which can cause numbness and in later years cause nerve damage. It’s best to avoid this position and instead keep your arms by your sides. You can also place a soft pillow under your arm for support.

Positioning your head too high

Many of us like to place our heads on too many pillows. This can strain your neck and lead to discomfort. Instead, you can choose to use a pillow that will support the natural curve of the neck and at the same time prevent any strain. Such pillows also all the spine.

Sleeping on your back with arms up

Sleeping on your back is considered to be one of the best positions and ideal for healthy sleep. However, if your arms are raised above your head, it can lead to shoulder pain. Hence, it is best to keep your arms by your side or use a pillow to support them. It is extremely important to keep your head and neck supported.
