Indulge Your Sweet Tooth In Papaya Basundi With This Simple Recipe At Home

Basundi is a popular dessert of South India predominantly made with milk and other ingredients. It is similar to the popular North Indian sweet dish Rabdi. Basundi’s major ingredient is milk but to add the flavour you can also mix fruits, nuts and other dry fruits. One of the popular types of basundi in India is Papaya Basundi. It is made of condensed milk and papaya fruit.

Most people who don’t prefer the Papaya fruit also fall in love with this sweet dish. There are several other types of Basundi such as Mango Basundi and Custard apple Basundi. These are majorly made in Maharashtra and Gujarat. The process of cooking Papaya Basundi is simple and can be made easily at home.

To prepare Papaya basundi, first, you need to arrange some ingredients. It will include papaya fruit, milk, sugar, Cardamom powder, powdered Cashews and ghee. The quantity of these ingredients will differ with the number of customers. Usually, one papaya fruit is enough to make a large amount of Basundi.

Wash the papaya fruit before starting the preparation of this fruit dish.

Peel the papaya fruit and remove the seeds from the inside.

Cut the fruit into small pieces and boil it on an idli plate without adding water for a few minutes.

Mash the boiled fruits well with the spoon.

Make sure not to burn your hands during this process.

Now boil the milk in the pan for a few minutes and then add the mashed fruits to it.

Add some sugar to the mixture and stir it.

Stir it till the fruit is properly cooked.

You can also use condensed milk for this recipe. It is also important to make the batter thick.

After the batter becomes thick, you must add the cardamom powder and roasted ghee cashews to the mixture to increase the flavour of the dish.

This sweet dish can be made of mango by following the same process.
