The classic must-have in any stylish girl’s wardrobe is the quintessential Little Black Dress (LBD). While this never really gets boring, fashion seasons do notice some variants pick up in popularity.
Fashion designer and stylist Aniket Satam says, “LBD is a classic investment but of late we have seen a lot of celebs sporting the daring cousin of the LBD, the LRD or the Little Red Dress! Unlike the LBD, the LRD is versatile and easily oscillates from being a fun day wear to a sexy date option.”
While the colour itself announces the arrival of the wearer and doesn’t need much of a styling effort, one does need to keep some tips in mind when sporting this look. Scarlet mini frocks are your Summer 21 must haves.
Leepakshi Ellawadi, wardrobe stylist for the B-Town, adds, “Red and Oxblood has been trending with a lot of celebrities and has taken the place of LBD. It’s a wave where celebs like Jacqueline Fernandez and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are sporting the new colour and have been carrying it so well too.”
Stylists say that when one picks a LRD, the very basic pro tip is to keep everything else minimal. Here are a few pointers to keep in mind if one wants to ace the look…
* Punctuate the LRD look with strappy sandals for evenings and cool white sneakers for socially-distanced brunch meets with your girl pals.
* Keep your trinkets and jewelry very minimalistic. You can add a dash of little emerald green, white or turquoise in the accessories to offset the bright red.
* Just a hint of another colour is nice because red itself is nice and bright. Avoid black. If you can’t do without black, then go for strappy heels or something which is like a hint of black.
* One can experiment with an array of silhouettes that flaunts one’s body type. But make sure to keep the detailing minimal.
* When wearing the little red dress balance it out with whites or do nudes. You could offset with nudes or cream or white.
* Try something retro like pin cuts, tie-up details to super sleek 90s staple slip dresses.
