Sanya Malhotra On Playing Strong Characters: ‘I Love Watching Such Women On Screen’

Sanya Malhotra has received appreciation from all the corners for her performance in ‘Pagglait’

Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra has managed to win the hearts of the audience with her power-packed performance in ‘Pagglait’. The film, which premiered directly on Netflix on March 26, is trending number one on the leading OTT platform. Both critics and fans have lauded Sanya for playing the role of a young widow with perfection.

 

After making an impressive debut in Aamir Khan starrer ‘Dangal’, the tinsel town star went on to feature in ‘Badhaai Ho’ and ‘Ludo’. Sanya, while talking to Khaleej Times, shared her experience on working a with an ensemble huge cast.

 

Malhotra told the daily that she never learned acting and developed the art on the sets. She added that she is grateful for getting to work with talented actors.

 

When asked if she purposely looks to play strong female characters, the ‘Shakuntala Devi’ actress said that she is attracted to such roles. She told the daily that she felt it was her responsibility to inspire the young women, who watch movies.

 

‘Pagglait’, which has been directed by Umesh Bist, also stars Ashutosh Rana, Shruti Sharma and Raghubir Yadav in key roles. The black comedy drama has been produced by Ekta Kapoor and Guneet Monga.

Last month, Kangana Ranaut praised Sanya for her acting skills. “She is soooo good …. I am glad people are recognising her talent, I heard #PagglaitOnNetflix is doing amazingly well… so happy for you Sanya you deserve everything and much more … lots of love to you,” she tweeted.

On the professional front, Sanya Malhotra will be next seen in ‘Love Hostel’. The upcoming film also stars Vikrant Massey. The ‘Pataakha’ star also has ‘Meenakshi Sundereshwar’ in pipeline. She will share screen space with Abhimanyu Dassani in the film.
