Say Goodbye To Guilty Midnight Snacks, Add These Nutritious Alternatives Instead

Late-night snacking can be hard to resist, especially when you binge-watch your favourite show or work on some project. You often sneak into the kitchen to have your comfort food, such as chips, noodles, ice cream or other unhealthy options only to regret it when they leave you feeling bloated or tired.

The desire to munch often sneaks up when the sun goes down and you tend to pick up processed foods loaded with sodium, unhealthy fats, preservatives, sugar and empty calories. It’s always advised to be mindful of what is being consumed, but it doesn’t mean sacrificing your cravings but switching to healthier options that can satisfy your hunger without leaving you sluggish or guilty the next morning.

Grabbing snacks late at night may not be harmful as long as they are healthy and nutritious. To help you make the right choice, nutritionist Sakshi Lalwani has shared some healthy late-night snack options that are rich in protein and fibre and low in sugar and fat. It’s best to avoid refined carbohydrates and sugary foods at night as they disrupt your sleep cycle.

Here are some healthy night snack options:

  1. Roasted walnuts or almonds as they are rich in magnesium.
  2. Have vegetable soup as it is low in calories and high in fibre. Include spinach or zucchini for extra nutrients.
  3. Cottage cheese or paneer with pineapple or cucumber.
  4. Cucumber slices with lemon and salt.
  5. Frozen banana dipped in dark chocolate.
  6. Baked apple slice with cinnamon.

These snacks are high in protein, fibre and other essential nutrients like magnesium, helping prevent digestion or sleep problems. These options are not only healthy and nutritious but also quick and easy to prepare.

So, the next time those cravings hit, reach for one of these nutritious options and enjoy a guilt-free treat that supports your well-being—even after dark!
