Smelly hands? Use these tips to get rid of it

Whether you were dealing with gasoline, cooking with onions, or bleaching your clothes, you may have an unpleasant smell lingering on your hands. Fortunately, there are a variety of home remedies you can use to help your hands smell nice and clean again.

Here’s how you can get rid of the kitchen smell off your hands before you dig into it.

Salt rub

Salt removes odor from your hands gently and effectively. Simply pour a small amount of salt into your hands, moisten them a bit so that the salt clings on properly, and rub them together. When done, rinse the salt away under running water and dry your hands.

Citrus rub

Rubbing lemon or lime juice on your hands is another classic way to remove odors. You can also use a mandarin or an orange. The citrus in the fruit absorbs any odor leaving behind a soothing citrusy scent on your palms.

Vinegar and baking soda rub

This is good for removing pungent smells like that of fish, garlic, and onion. Make a paste of vinegar and baking soda, rub over your hands to lift the odor, and rinse under cold water.

Coffee rub

If you’re particularly fond of the smell of coffee, this one is for you. Just rub some coffee beans or powder on your hands until the smell is gone, then wash them with soap and water. However, if you’re not fond of the coffee aroma, skip this one as you may get rid of the smell of onions but will have your hands smelling of coffee.

Toothpaste rub

Much like it helps eliminate bad breath, toothpaste can get rid of smelly hands as well. Put a dollop of toothpaste on your palm, rub it in nicely and then rinse off. However, make sure you use white toothpaste as the gel one doesn’t quite work.
