Spice Up Your Cooking Repertoire With This Simple Tawa Chicken Recipe

The Tawa Chicken recipe offers a delectable dish where boneless chicken thigh is fried on a flat iron griddle with an array of spices, resulting in a flavorful dry dish. Its versatility allows it to complement various accompaniments such as curd rice, rasam rice, sambhar rice, chapati and even vegetable biryani. Here’s a mouthwatering recipe for restaurant-style tawa chicken that can be effortlessly prepared at home.

Ingredients:

Boneless chicken pieces: 500 g (thigh part)

Tomatoes: 2

Green Chillies: 3

Chopped ginger: 1 tbsp

Chopped garlic: 1 tbsp

Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp

Red Chilli Powder: 1 tbsp

Coriander powder: 1 tbsp

Cumin powder: 1/2 tsp

Garam masala powder: 3/4 tsp

Oil: 3 tbsp

Chopped coriander leaves: 1 cup

Kasuri methi: 1 tbsp

Lengthwise chopped ginger: 2 tbsp

Salt: 1 tbsp

Recipe:

Step 1: Begin by cleaning and grating the boneless chicken thigh pieces thoroughly.

Step 2: Heat a tawa, pour oil and add finely chopped ginger and garlic. Sauté for a minute on low flame.

Step 3: Add the sautéed chicken pieces to the tawa and fry on high heat for 5 minutes until they change colour.

Step 4: Incorporate turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala and salt. Sprinkle a little water if needed and sauté on medium heat for 3 minutes.

Step 5: Add the chopped tomato pieces and cook on medium heat for 3–4 minutes until soft.

Step 6: Sprinkle some water, cover and cook on low flame for 10 minutes until the tomatoes are soft.

Step 7: Once cooked, add Kasuri methi and cook on low heat for 2 minutes.

Step 8: Introduce lengthwise chopped ginger and finely chopped green chillies to the chicken.

Step 9: Finally, add finely chopped coriander leaves and sauté for 2 minutes on medium heat.

Step 10: Your delicious restaurant-style tawa chicken fry is now ready to be served.
