Staying Indoors To Healthy Diet, 5 Ways Parents Can Prevent Kids From Lung Infection

Often during the rainy season, parents find themselves getting extremely concerned about their kid’s health. High humidity levels and moisture in the air create a breeding ground for various lung infections, allergies and respiratory problems in children which can be a common occurrence. However, if your child has asthma, then you need to ensure proper care and utmost precaution, to keep them protected from these infections during the monsoons. Here are a few essential tips for parents to safeguard their children’s respiratory health during this time.

Indoor Environment

Make sure to keep your home clean and well-ventilated. This will reduce any chances of fungi growing inside the house. Make sure to keep the dirty areas like the nooks and corners, under the wash basin and other areas clean and disinfected. Wash the bed sheets and covers in hot water. Use hypoallergenic covers for pillows and blankets. To make sure the indoor environment air quality is good, install an air purifier.

Encourage proper hygiene

It is extremely important to teach your children the necessity to wash their hands after going to the washroom or touching surfaces, toys, plants, sneezing, coughing etc. and before eating something. Teach them to maintain a safe distance from a sick person. Also, visit a paediatrician and keep your child updated with the vaccination dose for respiratory issues.

Feed your child with a healthy, nutritious and balanced diet along with adequate water intake. Include fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals to boost immunity. Incorporate citrusy fruits, leafy veggies and yoghurt. Ensure that your child does not feel stressed as it can trigger asthma symptoms. Focus on calming activities and breathing exercises.
