One needs to take extra care of their skin and hair during the winter season. As the temperature drops, the scalp loses its moisture quickly. Following this, many people suffer from dandruff problems in winter. If you are struggling with related problems, we have shared some Ayurvedic DIY hacks to treat dry and flaky scalps. Read on.

Aloe Vera Gel Treatment

Aloe vera contains antibacterial properties, which help in treating dandruff, especially during winter. Simply, take fresh aloe vera gel and apply it on your scalp for nearly 20-30 minutes before shampooing. This can be repeated twice a week for better results. The cooling and hydrating effect of aloe vera gel helps in reducing dandruff and keeping the scalp healthy.

Fenugreek Paste

Mix 1 tablespoon of fenugreek seed powder and 1 tablespoon of triphala churna in a bowl of yoghurt. Apply the mixture as a mask for an hour the next morning. Keep it for an hour and then rinse it off with a mild shampoo. This hair care treatment is recommended once or twice a week for healthy hair.

Warm Oil Massage

Massaging your hair with hot oil is one of the best ways to treat dandruff during the winter season. Ayurvedic experts have recommended warm oil massage to keep the scalp and hair healthy and nourished during winter. Heat a small amount of oil in a pan. Mix coconut oil, sesame oil or both with a few drops of essential oils like tea tree or neem. Gently massage it on the scalp. This helps improve blood circulation in the scalp.

Herbal Hair Rinse

Boil herbs such as rosemary, thyme or sage in water for herbal hair rinse. Set the mixture aside and let it cool. After a few minutes, filter the mixture for herbal hair wash. This mixture can be used after shampooing your hair to treat dry and flaky scalp. Antimicrobial properties present in these herbs help in keeping the scalp healthy and moisturised.

Neem and Gooseberry hair pack

Mix neem and gooseberry powder with water or aloe vera gel to treat dandruff. Put the paste on your scalp for 30 minutes and then rinse. This natural pack not only helps with dandruff, but also nourishes your scalp for healthier hair.
