Raw banana, plantains or vazhakkai (as it is called in Tamil) is widely used in Indian cuisine, especially in South Indian states. There are a variety of recipes we make with plantains. But have you heard of raw banana tamarind roast?
This unique recipe is tasty and healthy at the same time. So if you have not tried this raw banana tamarind roast, here is the recipe.
Ingredients:
1. Raw banana: 2
2. Tamarind: the size of a gooseberry
3. Mustard: 1 tbsp
4. Chili powder: 1 tbsp.
5. Turmeric powder: 1 tbsp
6. Oil: as required
7. Salt: as required
Process:
Step 1: First, add water and tamarind to a vessel and dissolve it well. After some time, when the tamarind is properly dissolved, take out half a cup of the tamarind solution separately.
Step 2: Then take the raw bananas, peel them, and cut them into small pieces.
Step 3: Now pour the tamarind solution into a vessel, add turmeric powder and chopped banana, and boil for 15 minutes.
Step 6: Next, pour one tablespoon of oil into a pan, and when it dries, add mustard seeds. When it splutters, add boiled bananas to it and fry it on high flame.
Step 7: After 5 minutes, reduce the flame of the oven, add the required amount of salt and chilli powder, and fry for 4 minutes.
Step 8: Keep until the plantains are well roasted and then drain. Now the delicious raw banana tamarind fritter is ready. One can enjoy this food along with their evening tea or coffee.
