When a woman faces the altar on her wedding day, below her veil are glimmering eyes of promises to be a good wife. While there are innumerable self-help guides on how to be every mother-in-law’s favourite daughter-in-law and every husband’s beloved wife, nothing compares the effort she puts in being a good woman.
Marriages, like anything, require work and commitment. All you need to be a good wife is the willingness to be one. To set you on the right path, here are 6 ways in which you can be the apple of your husband’s eye.
Make your Husband your Priority
It often happens that wives are so occupied in their every day chores that they start taking their husband for granted. Don’t do that. Instead, try to spend quality time with your husband by eating dinner together, going to the grocery store together, playing with the kids together, watching TV together, etc.
Never badmouth him in the company of others
Never talk negatively about your husband with your friends or even family members you are related to by blood. It would be disloyal to badmouth your husband without even confronting him first about whatever you are talking bad about him for. Besides, after you are married, your first loyalty is to your partner and later to the birth family or friends.
Appreciate Him
Like women, men also like to be appreciated. So, say ‘thank you’ when you see that he has made an effort to help you. Your compliments will put a smile on his face and joy in his heart. The best time to appreciate him would be in front of his friends. Give him positive feedbacks on his actions. When you give him positive feedback, you approve his actions and encourage him. And, that is what a husband really wants from his wife. You could swoon over his physical strength, tell him he is a great lover, ask him for solutions to problems you can’t seem to find an answer to, etc. These will not only oil his ego, but also make him feel important.
Give him Personal Space
That marriage puts an end to one’s freedom is almost a popular adage, but you can turn that right by being the wife every man so desires. Understand that everyone needs some time to relax, socialise with friends or simply be alone. To be a good wife, encourage your husband to socialise with his family, friends and do things he enjoys doing.
Let him Be Himself
Never force your husband to behave or act in a particular manner. Most behavioural experts suggest that the one person you can change in a relationship is “you”. For instance, if you are outgoing and like to socialise and your husband is shy, you can either cut short the duration of the social activity or go with your friends. But, make sure that you thank him for attending the event with you, for you.
