Wondering How Much Gas Is Left In Your LPG Cylinder? Try This Easy Hack

Cooking gas is an essential part of our household, as it is needed for preparation of food daily. Sometimes when the cylinder gas runs out all of a sudden, it becomes a problem for many. To handle such a problem, let us learn one hack, which could be used to know the quantity of gas remaining in the cylinder. The LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is commonly used in preparing food items, however it could also run out quickly because of unknown reasons. People try to check the remaining gas usually by observing the flame, or checking the weight of the cylinder. If the flame changes from a bluish hue to a yellow one, they believe that the gas is about to finish; but this method is not always reliable at all. The burner could change colour due to many other reasons. Here is an easy hack, which you can use to find out the amount of LPG left in the gas cylinder accurately.

For this method, you first need a wet or damp cloth. Then you have to wrap this damp cloth around the gas cylinder, and let it stay there for around a minute. After that, remove the cloth and observe the changes on the cylinder for the next few minutes. Upon close observation, you may find that some area of the cylinder is dry, while the remaining is wet.

The dry portion of the cylinder signifies that portion is just empty space, which absorbs the water. While the wet part shows that it is filled with gas, making the area a bit cold, and therefore harder to dry.

The LPG is used in a number of other machines like vehicles and other heating appliances. It is also used as an aerosol propellant and a refrigerant. It replaced chlorofluorocarbons as a refrigerant, to combat the ozone layer damage. As a transport fuel, it is known as an autogas. According to more information, a gas cylinder is 86 percent liquid.
